The smallmouth bass is one of the most prized catches. Bass spend most of their time in lakes and rivers with plentiful fresh water. They tend to congregate in mossy, sheltered areas to prey on smaller fish, such as minnows and small frogs. Largemouth bass can be recognized by the lower jaw that extends past the back edge of the eye. It is dark green above with silvery sides and belly with a dark stripe across its body. The underside ranges in color from light green to almost white. They have a nearly divided dorsal fin with the anterior portion containing nine spines and the posterior portion containing 12 to 13 soft rays.  To me the look like a predator that belongs in a jungle river.  This was a fun subject to illustrate and it is one of my favorites.

These are high quality digital copies of my original artwork.  I scan my original artwork and produce digital prints using pigment-based inks, not dyes, on 60 lb. (acid free, fiber based) archival linen paper using an Epson P600 printer.  When you purchase one of my prints of my original artwork, you are buying a product that I produced (scanned, printed, signed, and packaged) entirely myself.  I try to provide prints that look as much like the original artwork as possible.
