Fishtown, Mike's Eagle (Art Print)

Fishtown (Mike's Eagle). Leland, Michigan (Fishtown). Carp River (known to the locals as the Leland River) and a Bald Eagle. Inspired by a story told to me by my friend Mike. Limited edition signed print of original artwork by Kirk Timmons. Original drawing was done in ink, colored pencil and gouache paint on paper. Printed on linen, archival paper.

The Janice Sue is an enclosed fish tug sometimes called a "turtleback". It provides the shape for my illustration of the scenery of “Fishtown”. Fishtown is in Leland, Michigan which is on the northwest side of the Leelanau Peninsula. On River Street you will find a collection of old fishing shanties, smokehouses, overhanging docks, charter boats, and shops along the banks of the Leland River. The "Joy" is a commercial trap net tug. Both the Janice Sue and the Joy have become iconic symbols of this special place. My illustration features the Falling Waters Lodge, the Village Cheese Shanty, Carlson’s Fisheries, the Manitou Island Ferry, the shanties that make you feel like you have wandered into an 18th century fishing village and more. No trip to the Leelanau Peninsula is complete without a visit to “Fishtown”.

All limited-edition prints are signed and include, backing board and plastic sleeve for their protection. These are high quality digital copies of my original artwork.  I scan my original artwork and produce digital prints using pigment-based inks, not dyes, on 60 lb. (acid free, fiber based), linen, archival paper using an Epson P600 printer.  When you purchase one of my prints of my original artwork, you are buying a product that I produced (scanned, printed, signed, and packaged) entirely myself.  I try to provide prints that look as much like the original artwork as possible.
